THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY: Concert Version

The Bridges of Madison County tells the story of photographer Robert Kincaid and his life-changing, four-day love affair with Iowa farm wife Francesca Johnson.The Bridges of Madison County is a musical, based on Robert James Waller’s 1992 novel, with a book by Marsha Norman and music and lyrics by Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown.

Directed by Megan Helmers and Music Direction by Francine Griffith

Where is the Jamie Hurd Amphitheater?

The Jamie Hurd Amphitheater is located at 4100 Mills Civic Pkwy, West Des Moines, IA 50265

Where should I park?

Parking is located at City Hall. Please do not park in the West Des Moines Library parking lot.

Are there “reserved” seats?

There is no reserved seating for this production.

What kind of “seating” is offered at the amphitheater?

This is an open-air amphitheater with no seats. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.

Can I bring food, beverages?

Yes! Picnics are encouraged. All beverages must be in non-glass containers.

Can I bring adult beverages?

Wine and beer are allowed as long as it is in non-glass containers.

What is a “Concert Version?”

Concert Versions of musicals are typically trimmed down versions of the original.  The Bridges of Madison CountyConcert Version will be presented in its entirety – all of the script, all of the music – presented in a concert version with no scenery, minimal costumes and staging, and accompanied by an orchestra.

Is The Bridges of Madison County: Concert Version kid/family friendly?

The Bridges of Madison County: Concert Version carries a PG-13 rating.

How long is the production?

Anticipated run time for this production is 2 ½ hours, with one intermission.

If this is a “Free Will Donation” event, do I need a ticket?

An actual ticket is not needed. However, we are encouraging audience members to go online and make a donation in advance of the event. Suggested donation is $20 per person. Potential Weather Impacts

Due to the nature of an outdoor event, inclement weather can impact our productions. If there is a need to adjust either performance due to weather, Tallgrass will announce through email and social media the need to move to June 30th at 7:00PM as an alternative performance.
