ttc's production of A Banter New Year by local playwright Shadley Grei debuted at the Iowa Fringe Festival in July of 2005.

A Banter New Year is a comedy about the year in the life of two friends currently living on opposite coasts--she's a struggling actress living in New York City and he's a struggling writer living in Los Angeles. Through the intimate conversations that can only be shared between best friends, we hear the life stories of two people struggling to make sense of love, pain, potential stalkers, a series of odd gifts, new boys, old boys, birthdays, holidays, and all the other complicated details of adulthood. Funny, honest, heart-breaking, twisted, brutal, and slightly insane, Banter New Year is an homage to the best friend we all seek and many of us have been lucky enough to find.
