Auditions for Prelude to a Kiss by Craig Lucas Directed by Ron Gilbert
Nominated for a Tony Award for Best Play in 1990, Prelude to a Kiss is a romantic fantasy about Peter and Rita. Following their storybook wedding, an elderly man congratulates Rita with a kiss and, by a quirky twist of fate, the kiss affects a soul switch. Rita finds herself living in the old man's body and the old man in hers. To complicate matters, the old man is dying. Peter must think fast to reverse the spell. Prelude to a Kiss became a movie starring Meg Ryan and Alec Baldwin.

AUDITIONS: August 11 and 12 @ 7 PM
CAST REQUIREMENTS: 6M, 3W Ages 20 – 70 * Six men (3 20s-30s, 2 40s-50s, 1 60s plus) * Three women (1 20s-30s, 2 40s-50s)

ADD'L. INFO: You will be asked to read a selection from the script. Prepared monologues up to two minutes in length are optional. Auditions are open to the public; no one is pre-cast. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled audition time to fill in an information sheet to provide the director(s) with contact information, past experience, special skills and conflicts during the rehearsal process. Bring your calendar so you can provide complete information.

Prelude to a Kiss received a 1990 Tony nomination for Best Play, the Outer Critics Circle Award and a Drama Desk nomination for Best Play.

January 23-February 7 2009: Iowa Playwrights Workshop Directed by Josh VisnapuuTallgrass Theatre Company’s 3rd Annual Iowa Playwrights Workshop (IPW) was originally created in 2006 for the purpose of developing and showcasing fresh new works by Iowa writers. Writers are encouraged to submit one-act or full-length plays at any time to Tallgrass via electronic or hard copy.

April 17-May 2 2009: Crimes of the Heart by Beth Henley Directed by Maranda Miller Winner of the 1981 Pulitzer Prize and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, Crimes of the Heart is a warm-hearted, irreverent, zany and imaginative story filled with humanity and humor. It examines the plight of three young Mississippi sisters betrayed by their passions. Past resentments bubble to the surface as they're forced to deal with assorted relatives and past relationships while coping with the latest incident that has disrupted their lives.
The play is ultimately the story of how its young characters escape the past to seize their future-but the telling is so true, touching and consistently hilarious that it will linger in audiences’ minds long after the show ends.
